I would like to extend my prayers and thoughts to the Scheider family. I know I'm a little late on this comment but I did want the family to know that even though I didn't know James Scheider personally (hell, I don't think I've ever been to New Mexico) I did, and do, know his son Jed. And if Jed is any indication of what kind of man and father James was then I would like to think he was a wonderful man. Jed is my neighbor and I couldn't ask for someone more accepting and fun guy...and one hell of a cook! A man is remembered by what he leaves behind, and in Columbia SC he will be remembered well because he left behind a wonderful son and neighbor.
As one of the patients that Dr. Schneider “acquired” when he began his practice at Five Points, I am deeply saddened by his loss. Over the years, he was always the same doctor that assisted me through the trials and tribulations of my young adulthood, my tumultuous thirties and finally into the “I can’t believe” start of middle age. As with his other patients, he always saw us as people, not just “ailments” and treated us as individuals. I realize now that I never stopped to say “Thank you.” So, Thank you for the care you have given me, along with doses of logic, compassion, common sense and humor. You will be truly missed. J.M.
